Kent hails from the food and spirits wonderland of southern Louisiana. Growing up in Baton Rouge and New Orleans with a grandfather in the wine distribution business, Jarman was surrounded by an appreciation for fantastic food and fine wines from a young age. He enrolled at the University of California, Davis to study winemaking, graduating in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in Viticulture and Enology.
Upon graduation, he interned at J Vineyards & Winery in Healdsburg, followed by an internship at Spring Mountain Winery working with Becker. He was hired at Duckhorn Wine Company in 2002.
In 2006, Kent set out on his own to consult for various small-production brands, and in 2007, he launched his own label, Joseph Kent Wines,
Kent also is winemaker for Kennefick Ranch, Coup d'Foudre and Sommerston Wine Company. His 2015 Kennefick Ranch Sauvignon Blanc was featured on Wine Enthusiast's TOP WINES OF 2016.
Kent's first projects with Dos Lagos Vineyards is our 2016 and 2017 Sauvignon Blanc. Also our All Cabernet wine blend…
Kent's Winemaking Philosophy: "Let the vineyard and the wines do the talking. Blending for early approachable wines that have enough structure to cellar for a long time."
